Key to this role is the ability to build and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
The Business Unit Leader will be expected to advocate for and instill a strong culture of compliance throughout the organization, recognizing this as the foundation for sustainable business practices and long-term success.
The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a proven track record of developing and executing growth strategies in the healthcare or consumer goods sectors.
They will possess outstanding team leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to cultivate strong partnerships both internally and externally.
Reporting to the GM, STAR cluster, the Business Unit Leader will collaborate closely with regional and functional leaders to align the India vision care organization with broader company objectives while tailoring strategies to local market needs.
This position is crucial in strengthening J&J Vision Care's market position in India, developing internal capabilities, building a strong leadership pipeline, and ensuring that compliance and ethical business practices are at the core of all operations.

STAR Cluster/AP Vision Care Leaders, Marketing, Professional Affairs, Regional Associates, HCC, Legal, Quality, Regulatory and enabling functional leaders External.
Regional Optical Chains, Business Owners, Eye Care Professionals, industry key stakeholders KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Strategic Leadership and Business Planning.
Lead the development and execution of India's Vision Care strategy, aligning with regional and country strategic, brand, and business plans.
Drive annual business and financial planning, ensuring purposeful objectives are set and developed.
Shape and implement strategies to grow category leadership and market share.
Financial Performance an P&L Management.
Oversee full P&L responsibility for the India Vision Care business unit.
Ensure sustainable growth and strengthen business fundamentals.
Lead teams towards the execution of category and connected commerce go-to-market approaches to drive market-leading growth and deliver against business goals.
Manages & optimizes customer & trade spending to ensure effective return on investments.
Compliance and Ethical Business Practices.
Advocate for and instill a strong culture of compliance throughout the organization.
Keep sufficient focus on the anti-diversion framework and best business practices around monitoring and reviewing business periodically.
Ensure all team activities and programs are healthcare compliant and Credo-based.
Focus on customer sell-through and maintenance of healthy trade inventory.
Team Leadership and Talent Development.
Build, lead, and develop high-performing cross-functional teams.
Provide coaching to grow organizational capability, bench strength, and leadership pipeline.
Ensure right resourcing and investments to support building in-market capabilities, especially relating to connected commerce.
Customer and Stakeholder Relationship Management.
Build strong customer and internal stakeholder relationships to develop joint business efforts and higher levels of collaboration and growth.
Lead and participate in top-to-top management business reviews with major customers, providing a consolidated view of global, regional, and country implications and opportunities.
Facilitate Johnson & Johnson becoming the preferred partner of choice in the Vision Care sector for optometrists and for key accounts and priority customers.
Market Insight and Innovation.
Understand industry landscape, customer objectives, shopper, consumer, and category trends to optimize plans and business opportunities.
Engage with major customers and support market teams in implementing aligned business goals.
Develop and deliver powerful marketing campaigns to drive the trajectory of contact lens category and eye health in India.
Drive innovation in go-to-market strategies and business models.
Commercial Strategy and Capability Development.
Lead and sharpen commercial strategies and go-to-market capabilities.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the India Vision Care sector.
Strengthen Vision Care market position through professional education development and total business solutions.
Qualifications REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree and above.
Minimum 10 years of customer engagement experience across marketing, sales/key accounts, in-market operations and leading cross functional / regional teams.
Proven track record of Strategic Account Management and has a good grasp of marketing, brands, and category management.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with strong ability to influence.
Strong leadership and ability to influence across teams and reporting lines.
A Strategic thinker with a strong commercial acumen and analytical mind who can drive insights-based business model innovation Strong Key Stakeholder Management and ability to drive followership Global Leadership (think global/regional, act local) Orientation and ability to drive high performance, simplicity in a complex environment Experience in retail, connected commerce Results and Performance Driven Preferred (as an Added Advantage) Eye care, retail and health care industry knowledge Strong business development experience and track record
