For every child, hope  UNICEF is responding to the unique needs of children, adolescents and young people who are seeking asylum in Europe, on the move, stranded or pushed back, as part of the Regional Migrant and Refugee Response.
Since , as part of the Geneva-based UNICEF Europe and Central Asia Regional Office (ECARO), the operation established an Out-Posted Office in Italy, based in Rome.
UNICEF’s National Response in Italy aims to provide support to the Italian Government, to ensure timely, equal and appropriate care, protection, education and support for social inclusion of the most disadvantaged children and adolescents, including Unaccompanied Minors (UAMs) and young refugees and migrants.
Starting from , the Italy response is also supporting the national authorities in the establishment and implementation of the European Child Guarantee (ECG) to prevent and combat child poverty and social exclusion, through testing, scaling and mainstreaming innovative and evidence-based models of services for the most disadvantaged children, amongst whom, children and young people with a migration background, children in precarious family situations, children in institutions.
The 2 pillars of the adolescent and education programme are 1) giving voice and strengthening participation of adolescent and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds  2) skills building for learning and employability of both UAMs and Italian students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
UNICEF National Response in Italy is focused mainly on providing unaccompanied children with protection, improving social inclusion, participation and skills building.
UNICEF also works closely with the Italian National Committee for UNICEF to communicate, advocate for legislative changes and promote social inclusion for adolescent migrants and refugees.
We are seeking a motivated individual who would like to join the Adolescent and Education team to provide administrative and organizational support contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the section in Rome.
This internship is designed to offer valuable professional experience in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
We value young talent and are looking for a dynamic intern who is a fast-learner and team player and is proactive, resourceful, and keen to learn.
S/he should also have a strong passion for making an impact for children.
How can you make a difference?   Support with non-staff recruitment and placement Draft Terms of Reference (ToRs).
Liaise with candidates in the various stages of the recruitment process.
Draft formal acknowledgement, offer and regret letters.
Initiate and follow up on reference checks and academic verifications, and support completion of other background checks.
Record and maintain recruitment and vendor files, ensuring all necessary documentation has been prepared Support with Procurement/contracting.
Liaise with colleagues from ADAP section in planning procurement and contracting initiatives, supporting development of relevant specifications, terms of reference, and timelines.
Draft and process Request for Quotations (RFQs), and Requests for Proposals (RFPs), as might be requested.
Assist with technical and financial analysis of offers as might be required Draft  award recommendations Conduct clarifications with suppliers for Low Value procurement· Record and maintain procurement files, ensuring all necessary documentation has been prepared General office support Drafting and/or processing a variety of correspondence and other communications · Scheduling appointments and meetings Assist in special projects or tasks as required.
Meeting Support.
Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and distribute meeting materials; Arrange logistics for meetings, including room reservations, audio-visual equipment, and refreshments.
Supervision The intern will work under the guidance and supervision of the Youth and Adolescent Specialist in accordance with the standards, norms and procedures of UNICEF.
Condition of service.
The intern will work full-time in the Rome office, for 6 months.
Intern is expected to work and be available for calls/meetings during working hours in Rome time zone.
The Intern will be paid a monthly stipend.
UNICEF accepts no responsibility for the medical insurance of the intern or costs arising from accidents and illness incurred during the internship.
If not EU citizens, interns have to demonstrate a proof of medical and accident insurance in Italy prior to the beginning of the internship.
The Intern is personally responsible for obtaining necessary visa/permit for Italy.
However, UNICEF can issue a letter to support the visa application for the selected intern.
The purpose of the Internship Programme is not to lead to further employment with UNICEF but to complement an intern's studies.
Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…   Be enrolled in a degree programme in an undergraduate  or graduate school, or be a recent graduate  in the area of business administration, human resources, logistics or related fields..
Demonstrate strong academic performance through recent university or institution records.
Additional consideration will be given to any past professional experience.
Have fluency in English and Italian.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Have no immediate relatives (e.
.
father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office; and Have no other relatives in the line of authority which the intern will report to Required Skills Have excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
