The High Performance, Reliable System Laboratory and Opto-Electronics Lab at Università di Trento Italy invites applications from outstanding candidates for up to three Assistant Professors or Senior Post-Doc positions in the fields of Photonics, Electronics, High Performance Computing and Parallel Algorithms.
reas of researchThe selected candidates will contribute to and lead cutting-edge research in the following areas (candidates should be acquainted with at least one of the following).
igh-Performance Computing (HPC).
performance modelling and optimization of HPC applications, power-efficient computing, and exascale computing.
arallel and Distributed Systems.
design of scalable parallel algorithms and architectures for large-scale systems.
achine Learning and AI in HPC.
distributed training and deployment of machine learning models on supercomputers.
arge-scale Graph Analytics.
design of parallel and distributed graph algorithms.
ntegrated optics.
By fostering the advance of electronics and integration of optical component, it is possible to build chip capable of performing simple and complex computation tasks with unparalleled performances.
e are experts in the design of components, systems co-integrated with Electronics, development of photonic solutions and characterization and testing of those systems.
etwork Topologies and Interconnects.
optimization of optical network architectures and scalable interconnects for large parallel systems in integrated optics.
nergy-Efficient Computing.
Research into energy-aware scheduling, load balancing, and power-efficient integrated architectures for HPC.
esponsibilitiesFPGA development.
The interfacing and testing of the different architectures will require the use of state-of-the-art FGPA boards in order to simulate full systems.
evelopment of HDL benchtest and implementation on physical boards.
evelop a strong, externally funded research program in HPC, parallel computing, optoelectronics, Digital Electronics and related areas.
each undergraduate and graduate-level courses in computer science, high-performance computing, Electronics and opto-electronics.
upervise and mentor undergraduate, master’s, and PhD students.
ollaborate with industry partners, research centers, and other academic institutions.
articipate in departmental and university service activities.

PhD in physics, photonics, electronics, information engineering, or a closely related fieldEnglish proficiency certification (e.

Ideal candidates must have a record of high-quality publications in top-tier journals (Optica and IEEE ) and conferences (OFC, ECOC, IPC, etc..) in the field of optoelectronics and/or Electronics and/or optics.
xperience in teaching and mentoring students.
emonstrated potential for securing external research funding.
xperience with gem5 or similar is highly desirable.
