Team description: The Expedia Group Experimentation Platform team is responsible for building the systems and tools leveraged across the company to implement the scientific method at an enterprise scale for A/B testing. Our customers include Product Managers, Engineers and Analysts who leverage our tools to design and validate experiments that affect the millions of travellers and partner organizations who use our brands and platforms. Business Contribution/Impact: Understanding and measuring the outcome of changes within our products is fundamental to the success of our business. The Experimentation Platform, in close collaboration with our analytics partners, ensures we follow good scientific practices to drive successful outcomes across our products and services. What you’ll do: Test and maintain software applications and related programs and procedures by using a variety of software development tools following the design requirements of customer. Identify areas where efficiency and process improvement are needed. Apply new ideas or approaches to enhance team outputs. Demonstrate knowledge of the product development lifecycle from idea generation to bringing a product to market by supporting the different phases and improving product performance. Engage with peers across the organization to build an understanding of cross dependencies, priorities, and opportunities to simplify. Identify areas of improvement within the code and suggest solutions. Advocate for operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability). Ensure that operational teams and subcontractors have a clear understanding of customer requirements; identify technical issues and provide data to support solutions. Remain informed on industry trends. Examine inefficiencies in the existing stack operation and encourage engineers to improve them. Bridge the gap in discussions between technology and non-technology personnel. Report on team status faithfully and listen for suggestions to improve lagging project work. Who you are: Strong in 2+ of Java (8+), Kotlin, Node.js, React, Scala. Bachelor's degree or Master in a related Technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience. Experience of leading/managing/mentoring a team of engineers. Experienced with stream and batch processing having used at least one of these frameworks: Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Spark. Strong technical acumen which allows you to be responsible for the technical domain. Delivered solutions to business problems at the project level. Collaborated closely with the product team to deliver a product roadmap. Ability to identify business problems at the project level and provide solutions. Understanding how projects/teams interact with other teams. Ability to test and monitor code at the project level. Understanding of testing and monitoring tools. Ability to test, debug, fix issues within established SLAs.
