ROLE SUMMARY: ISC is seeking to appoint an experienced, well-qualified, and inspirational Head of Maths to lead and manage our secondary school’s Mathematics department. This role includes overseeing the teaching of Mathematics across IB MYP and IBDP, curriculum planning, and fostering a positive and effective team environment. Candidates should be experienced educators with significant Mathematics teaching experience, a strong commitment to high standards, and the ability to develop innovative and imaginative teaching approaches. The Head of Maths will display leadership skills, actively contributing to departmental and school-wide development, mentoring colleagues, and being a dedicated team player who leads by example. Experience in supporting students for whom English is an additional language is advantageous. About the school: This is an exciting time to join The International School of Como. In September 2024, new Executive Principal Philipa Smithson joined the school. With an expansion project underway, the school will grow over the coming years from 400 students to around 700, presenting several career development opportunities. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: Requirements Appropriate degree and teaching certification. Demonstrated success in classroom leadership with experience in external exam preparation. Minimum of two years of experience in a teaching or leadership role within a Mathematics department. Experience working with the IB curriculum. Passion for education and student development. Willingness to lead in the ongoing development of the High School. Commitment to fostering a positive IB learning community. Commitment to IB standards and practices and to the IB Learner Profile. Superior communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills. Preferred Experience in an international or multicultural school setting.
