cinfo The mission of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is to ensure the universal enjoyment of all human rights by giving practical effect to the will and resolve of the world community as expressed by the United Nations. OHCHR provides support to the "treaty bodies" that monitor the implementation of the core human rights instruments. These bodies are committees of independent experts which monitor implementation of human rights treaties primarily through review of reports submitted by States parties. Ensuring the smooth functioning of treaty bodies is the main responsibility of OHCHR's Human Rights Treaties Branch (HRTB). The Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) is the body of independent experts that monitors implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.     As Associate Human Rights Officer you support the Chief of Section and the Secretary of the Concerned Committee in Geneva by the following : Assist in servicing UN human rights treaty bodies by: • Providing substantive and technical support to the meetings of human rights treaties bodies and their working groups; • Preparing country analyses in respect of reports to be examined; • Drafting, as required, lists of issues of States reports as well as concluding observations for human rights treaty bodies; • Preparing background notes and undertaking research concerning the preparation of general comments or recommendations; • Assisting in the preparation of analytical summaries of queries received under the inquiry procedures relating to grave or systematic violations by a State party of rights set forth in the relevant treaty.   Part of the Swiss JPO Programme, this position is sponsored by the Peace and Human Right Division PHRD of the FDFA.   Please find the full job description here: Firmenname: OHCHR Branche: Community/Sozialer Dienst/Non-Profit Funktion: Anderes Stellenprozent: 80-100% Anstellungsart: Staff (Permanent and Fixed Term) Schul- / Studienniveau: Master Führerschein: Car driving licence For the Swiss JPO programme: Swiss nationality Not older than 32 years at the date of the first round of interviews Fluency in English and a second UN language Master's degree   Two Swiss national languages Driving license     For this position: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in law, political science, or international relations; knowledge of international human rights treaties machinery and law.
