om/ Job Description HII Unmanned Systems (UxS) are seeking a Software Engineer to join our growing team in support of the next generation of maritime autonomy.
As a Software Engineer at HII UxS, you will be working with a world-class interdisciplinary team to deploy advanced autonomous maritime solutions for defense, marine research, and commercial applications.
With HII serving unmanned system customers in more than 30 countries, the software engineering team is at the core of the solution space for unmanned platform design, autonomy engine deployment, user interface, platform manufacturing and testing and operations and sustainment of unmanned systems and their auxiliary equipment.
In this role, you will work within the team that is developing and sustaining Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) autonomy software.
Essential Job Responsibilities Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
Ensures software standards are met.
Minimum Qualifications 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field 1+ years of experience in a professional software development environment Experience with multiple programming languages Experience with Application Lifecycle Management and Source Code Control (e.

Git, Jira) Excellent oral and written communication skills This position requires you to be on site at the customer’s facility in Norfolk, VA several days a week.
Must be a US Citizen and  able to obtain a secret clearance #LI-MH1   Preferred Requirements Experience using containerization software (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman, etc) Strong experience on Linux command line and bash Experience with RedHat Ansible Physical Requirements Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family.
