Led by Will Barker, our Design Director (previously leading UX teams at IDEO & Samsung), the team are laser focused on building the world’s #1 rail platform benefiting our communities and our world by reducing congestion and our collective carbon footprint - we believe our work has a genuine impact and will change travel for the better . About the role As Senior Product Designer, your challenge will be to support the development of our vision for monetisation and translate it into reality whilst maintaining a world class customer experience . You’ll validate new disruptive ideas, shipping web & app iterations to accelerate our commercial growth and enhance our value proposition . You’ll be critical in advocating for user value as the anchor to guide revenue-generating initiatives, and it will be your responsibility to uncover a deep customer understanding in order to develop new products propositions that will augment user experience whilst building new revenue streams. Reporting to Josephine Lie (a seasoned leader in Design, formerly with Meta & Bumble), you’ll lead design across a 60 strong squad for Monetisation spanning Product, Data, Engineering and Commercial. From partnering with Research on insights, to working on metrics-sizing with Data Science, you’ll understand the power and importance of data to assess the impact of design , and draw insights to iterate and optimise experience. Fearlessly creative, you’ll lead the end-to-end design process delivering innovative tactical features and visually polished solutions , and will directly shape the wider product strategy for Monetisation, and how Trainline sells value to users. We ship new products at speed and employ a ‘build/test/learn’ mentality around our product development. To this end, success lies in your customer-centric mindset, your ability to challenge thinking and develop the next ‘big thing’ for Trainline from ideation to delivery . This is a stand out position for someone passionate about product design looking for an opportunity to disrupt and define a product that is changing the way we travel and inspiring millions people all across the UK and Europe to make more environmentally sustainable travel choices every day. Qualifications We’re looking for creative big thinkers with small egos to achieve our ambitious plans. Most importantly, you’ll bring exceptional delivery within your +5 years of design experience within a fast-paced consumer-focused tech or travel business – bonus points for experience in the growth or martech space. Additional experience we’re looking for includes: Exceptional communication and storytelling skills , adept at conveying concepts to stakeholders at all levels. Deep expertise in visual and interaction design , aligning with the product vision. Proficient in using data and customer insights to validate ideas and drive positive customer behaviour. Experience in data-informed experimentation such as A/B or multivariate testing , with a focus on growth or monetisation metrics. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities , fostering an empowering and collaborative design environment. Hands-on, action-oriented approach to solving creative challenges, inspiring creativity and design excellence within the team. Extensive experience designing responsive web experiences across desktop and mobile , with expertise in digital products and systems. A self-starter mentality with strong collaboration skills with Engineers, Product Managers, and broader business teams. Proficiency in Figma for day-to-day design work is a must-have, international expertise is a plus .
