We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our Managed Service team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our customers environments whilst optimising security, with a strong focus on Cisco routing, switching, and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) solutions. This role requires hands-on experience in network administration, troubleshooting, and security policies to ensure optimal network performance and security across several Customer environments. Responsibilities: A brief summary of key function of role and where it fits into the organisation: Working alongside architects and technical leads to serve as the main point of contact to the management and optimisation of our customers network infrastructure. Providing expertise in Cisco SD-Access, Cisco wireless technologies and Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), ensuring robust and scalable network solutions. Working alongside delivery teams to ensure a smooth transition of customer networks into operational support. Involvement in day-to-day incident management, ownership of technical escalations and driving resolution of incidents within the Managed Services function; Developing and enforcing network policies and procedures, aligning with industry best practices and compliance requirements relating to our customers enterprise network estates. Performing regular upgrades, troubleshooting issues and implementing enhancements to maintain optimal performance and seamless connectivity for both end users and wider customer networks. Collaborating with Professional Services / Project Management / Pre-Sales teams to understand Business needs and translate them into technical requirements, whilst providing training in relation to network troubleshooting. Diagnosing and resolving complex network issues, providing Level 3 support and guidance to internal and external (Customer) teams. Working with the security teams to deploy and integrate SASE solutions, enhancing the overall security posture of the client networks. Monitor network performance using industry-specific tools, proactively identify issues, and resolve network outages or degradations. Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including topologies, configurations, and changes. Help contribute to reports on network performance and security incidents. Ensure clear and concise asset and configuration management is carried out within the companies ITSM. Skills & Experience Network Fundamentals Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network devices at a low level, including switches, routers, firewalls and access points. Knowledge of network protocols such as Ethernet, TCP and IP, VLANs and routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP and BGP. Experience of Layer 2/Layer 3 switching environments, ensuring high availability and scalability. Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools to diagnose and resolve network issues. Knowledge of network security principles, including access control lists, firewall policies and VPN configurations. Experience in working with low-level network protocols and technologies, such as DHCP, DNS, NAT and IP addressing. Ability to perform basic network device configurations, including firmware upgrades, port configurations and VLAN assignments. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly identify and resolve network issues. Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, provide technical support to end users and explain technical concepts in a clear and concise manner. Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) Experience of implementing network solutions that integrate Cisco ISE for identity management. Exposure to Installing, operating, configuring, optimising, and maintaining the Cisco ISE tool. Knowledge of monitoring and troubleshooting ISE-related issues to ensure seamless network access control. Knowledge of working with TACACS and Radius with Cisco ISE. General Skills and Capability Experience and understanding of the delivery of IT Service design, implementation, and management. Experience of working with third party suppliers of products and services, in conjunction with in-house teams to provide integrated and seamless delivery of technical solutions. Exposure to change governance through a process of peer review and approval and representing change at a change advisory board (both internal and within the customer’s CAB). Qualifications & Work Experience Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a Technical Managed Service role working directly with customers; Bachelor’s degree or similar qualification in a Computer Science, IT or related field is desired. CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or equivalent certifications are strongly preferred. Cisco ISE certification or equivalent experience is required. Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, focusing on Cisco-based solutions.
