Exposure to cold, whether for recreational or occupational purposes, can lead to the development of local or systemic cold-related injuries.
Our research endeavors in this field are dedicated to exploring the various health effects associated with cold stress, accidental hypothermia, avalanche burial, and frostbite.
Our research studies are designed to advance our understanding of the pathophysiology of cold-related injuries, develop innovative diagnostic and therapeutic devices and triage tools, collect clinical and experimental data, and formulate evidence-based recommendations for the prevention, rescue, and medical management of cold injuries.
We have direct access to the terraXcube research infrastructure, enabling our collaborators to drive innovation and lead impactful projects through our extensive network with major clinical and research institutions dedicated to investigating cold-related injuries.
Tasks.
Support for research in the field of "Hypothermia and cold injuries" Conception, design and implementation of research in the field of "Hypothermia and cold injuries" (partly under supervision) Execution of projects involving medical devices and sensor technology Analysis and elaboration of research data Writing and submission of scientific publications Administrative and scientific support to the Institute Assistance for the terraXcube Centre and Mountain Medicine Clinic Participation in and organisation of scientific meetings, workshops and congresses Contribution to the application for EU/international/national project funding programmes Requirements.
A degree in medicine or MSc PhD is desirable Experience in the field of hypothermia and cold injuries Experience in medical research Very good English language skills (written and spoken) Italian and/or German skills (or willing to achieve proficiency, one of these two languages is mandatory for clinical work at local hospitals) Good ability with MS Office programs Skills with statistical software desirable Experience in electronic searches of scientific literature Versatility, capability to work in a team and good organisational skills We offer.
Up to three-year first contract with possibility of extension (beginning in fall ) Full-time or part-time contract (minimum 50%) with possibility of combination with clinical work in the local health care system (for MD) Salary will be defined according to study degree and experience Reimbursement of business trips expenses Special internal courses for research related skills How to apply.
