Setting and Reporting The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide.
These positions are located within the Warehouse and Distribution Team (W&D), Delivery & Return Section of the Supply Chain Service at the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy.
The Receiving & Inspection (R&I) Assistant is under the general supervision of the Chief, Warehouse and Distribution Team (W&D), Delivery & Return Section, Supply Chain Service.
Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the R&I Assistant will be responsible for the following duties.
- Assists in receiving all deliveries of mission supplies.
- Assists in conducting physical inspections and quality control of United Nations property to ensure that all items are accounted for and in serviceable condition.
Assist in serializing and updating received equipment and/or batches, as applicable and print UN labels, as needed.
Physical inspections include opening of boxes, containers, de-stuffing and re-stuffing as necessary and driving of light and medium capacity UN vehicles and/or Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
- Assists in identifying anomalies and/or discrepancies and details therof, or any other reason for rejection and record in Damage Discrepancy Reports (DDR), posted on the system and presented to R&I supervisor and Procurement for immediate action.
- Process Goods’ Receipt reports in SAP/Umoja and updating inventory records.
Maintains and monitors internal relevant databases.
- Assists stakeholders with the application of property management policies and procedures to meet organizational standards and goals.
- Assists in monitoring the execution of contracts in IFS (Instant feedback System).
- Prepares statistical analysis and trend analysis on United Nations property.
- Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
- Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
- Performs other duties, as required.

Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job - Specific Qualification Driving license type "B" is required.
Driving license for higher levels, i.
., type C, D, and E is desirable.
Forklift operator certificate (minimum 3 Tons) is required.
Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Work Experience A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of inventory control, property management, logistics, procurement or other related fields is required.
The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to one (1) year for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
Experience with Microsoft Office package and SAP/ERP such as UMOJA are required.
Experience in related material management or warehouse distribution activity is desirable.
Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
Fluency in English, both (oral and written) is required.
Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
