PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER I

JOB SUMMARY: Performs manual tasks associated with general landscaping projects to include trimming of trees, shrubs, grass and removal weeds in parks and landscaped areas around public buildings and facilities. Assists in transporting and setting-up of booths, tables, benches, chairs and other equipment used by the public at community events. Assists in installing, painting, and repairing playground equipment, tables, benches, signs, bleachers, fences, small buildings/structures and other equipment. Also, performs carpentry, masonry, electrical, and plumbing maintenance and repair on Town facilities. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in an outdoor environment; work schedule is generally M-Fri, 6:00am – 2:30pm and may be subject to change. Work may involve moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. Employees in this position will need to stand, stoop, walk, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds and/or heavy objects and may perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED plus six (6) months to one (1) year work experience as a general laborer, construction, landscaping, or related work involving the operation of motorized equipment.
