One post-doctoral position in Non-coding RNAs in Physiology and Pathology (2400007Y) Project: Intracellular localization of coding and non-coding RNAs in neurons Commitment & contract: collaboration contract, duration: 22 months Location: CHT Center for Human Technologies – Genoa WHO WE ARE At IIT we work enthusiastically to develop human-centered Science and Technology to tackle some of the most pressing societal challenges of our times and transfer these technologies to the production system and society. YOUR TEAM You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where molecular biologists, genomic technologists, and computational scientists collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out common research. The Non-coding RNAs in Physiology and Pathology Research Unit is coordinated by Prof. Irene Bozzoni with a well-established academic record in the field of the functional genomics of non-coding RNAs. The study involves high-throughput RNA sequencing analysis of the spatial transcriptome of various subcellular compartments in wild-type and disease-related motor neurons and analysis of the scaffolding role of non-coding RNAs in shaping the RNA-protein complexes in such districts. Within the team, your main responsibilities will be: To set up appropriate purification procedures for different intracellular organelles as well as synapses; To study the scaffolding role of non-coding RNAs in organizing specific RNA-protein complexes; Participate and support a constructive working environment, communicating and collaborating with your team workers. WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU SHINE A PhD in molecular biology, genomics, neurobiology, or a related discipline. A strong background in (molecular) biology. Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate are essential. Good command in spoken and written English. EXTRA AWESOM Experience in biochemical methods to purify and study cellular organelles and synapses. Experience in the identification and functional analysis of non-coding RNAs. Experience in handling mES and human iPS cell lines and their differentiation to motoneurons. Strong problem-solving attitude. High motivation to learn. Spirit of innovation and creativity.
