JUNIOR/SENIOR TECHNICIAN FOR THE TERRAXCUBE RESEARCH AND TESTING INFRASTRUCTURE AT EURAC RESEARCH IN BOLZANO

terraXcube Short description of the position We are seeking a motivated Technician, either Junior or Senior, to join our team at the terraXcube research and testing infrastructure at Eurac Research in Bolzano.
This facility features several climate chambers that simulate a wide range of environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure up to meters, rain, snow, ice, and wind.
These chambers are utilized for scientific testing in areas such as mountain emergency medicine, alpine environments, rescue operations, extreme working conditions, and the testing of industrial components.
The ideal candidate will have experience in research environments or laboratories, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Tasks Manage and maintain the climate chambers, ensuring their optimal functionality.
Monitor and adjust climate parameters within the chambers (temperature, humidity, etc.).
Provide technical support during research and experimental activities.
Collaborate with researchers to ensure that the environmental conditions in the chambers meet experimental requirements.
Troubleshoot technical issues and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
Document work procedures and results obtained during experiments.
Design new experimental activities in collaboration with research groups or clients.
Evaluate and recommend the purchase of new instruments or equipment to improve existing units.
Draft technical content for tenders, requests for offers, or other client-related inquiries.
Qualify suppliers and verify purchased goods or services.
Prepare project-related offers in coordination with the Laboratory Coordinator, review orders, conduct market research, and interface with the purchasing team.
Perform installation activities involving hydraulics, mechanics, and electricity, including sensor installation, wiring of acquisition systems, and motion controls.
Operate and monitor the chambers from the control room.
Coordinate and assist external personnel or companies responsible for routine and extraordinary maintenance within the laboratories.
Requirements Diploma or degree in a technical field (e.
., Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or related fields).
Previous experience (for the Senior position) or strong motivation to learn (for the Junior position).
Basic knowledge of environmental control systems and laboratory equipment.
Ability to work accurately and meticulously.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
Flexibility and the ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
Availability to work occasional shifts or outside regular working hours.
Proficiency in English, with strong skills in German and Italian (native-level or advanced proficiency in one language and good knowledge of the other, or willingness to improve to use it as a working language).
