For the project "Biodiversity Monitoring South Tyrol" (BMS) we invite applications for the position of an intern in the field of soil invertebrate sampling.
Besides profound knowledge of the inner-Alpine soil invertebrate fauna, the ideal candidate has gained experience in pitfall trapping and identification of soil invertebrates.
Investigation area will be the whole region of South Tyrol (ITA), working location is Bolzano/Bozen.
BMS is an ongoing survey of biodiversity that serves as basic research, but it is also intended to provide a scientific base for political decisions concerning spatial planning, agriculture, and nature conservation.
BMS surveys animal and plant groups that react sensitively to climate and/or land-use changes, at habitat and landscape level.
These surveys occur in 320 terrestrial and more than 100 aquatic sites distributed over the entire province of South Tyrol ( km²), including a large share of the diversity of habitats in the region.

Support of soil surveys for the season within the monitoring standard program and within special projects of the Biodiversity Monitoring (installing and regular emptying of pitfall traps Supporting with lab work, e.
., sample processing and storage and presorting of invertebrate samples Support of field work for other taxonomical groups, e.
.
bats, butterflies, grasshoppers and bees Requirements.
Bachelor/master's degree in biology or Environmental Sciences (or similar; degree obtained not more than one year ago).
Willingness and availability to work in alpine areas Good faunistic knowledge and identification skills for invertebrate groups (soil and ground-dwelling macro-invertebrates).
Experiences in biodiversity monitoring programs is advantageous Good English skills, additional skills in German and Italian are advantageous Good interpersonal and collaborative skills to integrate in a working group Efficient organization skills We offer.
