CMCC Position Hydrologist Modeler Deadline.
July 31 st,   WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Are you ready to join a dynamic team where your proactiveness and management prowess can translate directly into tangible outcomes in the research field? CMCC GOCO Division, located in Lecce, is looking for a new position of researcher with experience as numerical modeler, to support the research and the coastal modeling activities.
This position is for a Numerical Modeller (i.
., Post Doc, or Junior Scientist for research career at CMCC) with good knowledge of costal physical processes, numerical models and programming skills.
The primary purpose for this position is to take on a pivotal role in implementing, testing and further developing hydrological modeling to better serve the connection between river and ocean models by embedding the routing of river loads, such as nutrients and sediment loads.
This work contributes to evaluate the relevance of a proper representation of the river loads in terms of the time evolution of nutrient concentration at the river mouths, in some target coastal areas selected within the framework of the supporting project and other collaborations A gained experience with hydrology-hydraulics models (e.
.
LISFLOOD, WRFHYDRO) and nutrient transport modeling (e.
.
GREEN, BFM) are required.

ROLE The Scientist\/Senior Scientist will contribute to the working group of FOCCUS Project.
RESPONSIBILITIES The Scientist\/Senior Scientist will support the GOCO Division with.
Implementing, testing and further developing hydrological modeling to better serve the connection between river and ocean models; Embedding the routing of river loads, such as nutrients and sediment loads.
REQUIREMENTS PhD in Physics, Engineering and the other scientific disciplines dealing with numerical modelling e.
Mathematics, Environmental Science; Experience in numerical modeling development; Good knowledge and skills in programming language (i.
Python, Fortran, matlab, R); Knowledge of UNIX\/Linux operating systems and script languages (i.
.
*nix shell); Knowledge of parallel programming on HPC architectures; Fluency in English.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS.
Good communication skills and teamworking attitude; Advanced knowledge of unstructured numerical models; An excellent knowledge of English language; Experience in writing of peer-reviewed publications.
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally; The Scientist will be based in Lecce CMCC Office; The appointment period will be initially of 12 months starting from September , with a gross annual salary range of K Euros.
Tenure can be granted from 2 to 4 years after being appointed as a junior researcher;   Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract; Flexible working time as per internal policies; Support during the immigration process, if needed.
