WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR EU Institutions: Full-Stack Developer at JRC Join our client's team as a Full-Stack Developer. As a key player in web development, you'll be responsible for crafting user experiences, designing front-end architecture, and developing robust back-end applications. From ensuring security to optimizing cross-platform performance, your role will encompass the entire development lifecycle. Take the lead on projects, maintain code integrity, and contribute to the creation of scalable software. The Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra is the European Commission's science and knowledge service. It serves as a research hub, providing evidence-based support to EU policies. JRC focuses on a wide range of scientific areas, contributing to the development and implementation of policies that address societal challenges and promote sustainable development across Europe. YOUR TASKS Development of front-end website architecture. Design of user interactions on web pages. Development of back-end website applications. Implement core business logic. Creation of servers and databases for functionality. Understanding and implementation of security and data protection. Cross-platform optimisation. Design responsive applications. Design and develop APIs. Participating in the design and creation of scalable software. Taking lead on projects, as needed. Maintenance of code integrity and organisation. Writing clean, functional code on the front- and back-end. Compile and analyse data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement. Testing and fixing bugs or other coding issues. Meet both technical and consumer needs. Write technical documentation. YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE The following specific expertise is requested for the performance of tasks: Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Good knowledge with JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as Angular and Bootstrap. Proficiency with back-end languages and frameworks such as Java, PHP, Spring boot and Hibernate. Familiarity with database technology such as Oracle, MongoDB. Knowledge of code versioning tools such as Git or SVN. The following skills are required: Autonomous. Strong organisational and time-management skills Excellent verbal communication Attention to details. Good problem-solving skills. Due to the particular nature of a large international organization such as the European Commission, candidates should also have the following non-technical skills: Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in working in team Ability to make presentations to Member State Authorities and other stakeholders, excellent communicator Ability to participate in multilingual meetings Ability to work in multi-cultural environment, on multiple large projects Excellent Team Player Very good ability to understand, speak and write in very good English (C1/C2), knowledge of any other language will be an advantage High degree of discretion and integrity is required as the applications managed and maintained contain personal and confidential data EXTRA INFORMATION Work location: Ispra (Varese), Italy Both employee and freelance competitive contracts.
