SA's postdoctoral Research Fellowship programme offers early-careerscientists and engineers the possibility to carry out research in avariety of disciplines related to space science, space applications orspace technology.
Research Fellowships in Space Sciencespecifically offer the opportunity to contribute to ESA's endeavour toexplore our Solar System and the Universe, and cover the fields ofheliophysics, planetary science, astrophysics andfundamental physics.
he research fellowships offer unique insightsinto ESA's environment andactivities while conducting cutting-edge research.
Mentoring and trainingopportunities are available, as are possibilities to engage with ESAscience-related activities (e.
., archives, data science and machine learning, operations,calibration, communication, citizen science).

TheSpace Science fellowships can be taken up at any of the three sites ESAC (Spain),ESTEC (Netherlands) or STScI (USA) and we encourage applicants to choose sites that allow forbest local collaborations.

An extension for a third year requires a dedicated proposal and isfrequently granted.

Preference will be given to candidates with up tofive years of relevant experience after their PhD.

Nationals from Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia, as Associate Member States, or Canada as a Cooperating State, can apply as well as those from Bulgaria, Croatia and Cyprus as European Cooperating States (ECS).
ccording to the ESA Convention, the recruitment of staff must take into account an adequate distribution of posts among nationals of the ESA Member States.
When short-listing for an interview, priority will first be given to candidates fromunder-represented Member States.
