The beneficiaries of the Foundation's support are women and girls who are unable to realize their rights and potentials due to discrimination, oppression and/or poverty. The participation of these women in society should be empowered so that they can exercise their social, economic, and political rights autonomously and unrestrictedly. The partner organizations and projects supported by the Foundation are located in the global South and aim directly and sustainably at improving the situation of the women involved in the project and their community. To reinforce its team, the focus women foundation is seeking a creative team player to serve as a Consultant for Latin America (mainly Colombia and Peru) with experience in project work and/or international cooperation on a mandate basis, for at least 50 hours per year, immediately or by appointment Main duties You will assume the function of a bridge builder with partner organizations in the target region where the Foundation operates, and assist the Management's project research, project assessment and process supervision work. Employing your expertise for the project assessments with which you were entrusted, you will verify and analyze facts related to the projects and your target region. In cooperation with Management, you will prepare the basis for decision-making by the Foundation Board. As a consultant, you will perform the following tasks for your target region on a mandate basis, on behalf of and in close cooperation with Management: • Carry out the preliminary assessment of the projects with regards to relevance, cost and risks • Coordinate the work between partner organizations and the Foundation • Support partner organizations with project definition, application criteria and running of the project • Communicate with partner organizations: project and process supervision • Report to the Foundation regularly on the progress of negotiations and project execution • Review the final reports and accounts • Provide advice on cross-cultural cooperation: what to pay special attention to and how to communicate • Deliver suggestions to the Foundation on potential partner organizations and networks in the target region The aim is to support the projects within the scope of the Foundation's purpose. Management is authorized to issue directives and is in charge of managing the project. The Foundation Board defines the content and strategic concept. You know the local context and are familiar with the cultural, political and social aspects of the region, especially women's position in society. You speak one or more of the languages used in your target region and have a network of local contacts there. German or English language skills are required. As a consultant, you share the feminist values of the Foundation while being aware of the possibilities and restrictions to their implementation in your geographical intervention area. Ideally, you possess a knowledge of one of the thematic fields focus women is involved in: international cooperation, conflict and peace work, migration, women's rights, the elimination of violence and discrimination, socially responsible business practices, or environmental protection. You definitely need to have a basic knowledge of project work.
