CLOUD SOLUTION DESIGN ENGINEER

Role purpose As Cloud Design Engineer, you will be part of a global E2E unit in the Cloud Engineering organization that aims to achieve the cloud-ready & cloud-native strategy for Vodafone. This role is an enabler for the network as a platform, driving cost efficiencies and innovation. You will be responsible for designing and supporting the delivery of the Telco Cloud virtualized infrastructure in Italy and cluster markets in accordance with the Vodafone Cloud Engineering strategy and goals. Your focus will be on enabling the onboarding of the core network’s tools with best-in-industry quality within the planned time. You will be accountable for the design and deployment of the infrastructure Virtualization Network for a Cloud-ready platform, primarily focusing on VMWare NFV & SDN solutions and Red Hat Open Shift solution, considering capacity efficiency, security, resiliency, and automation, aligned with the peculiarities of NFV workloads. Additionally, you will support the Infrastructure build of Network functions into the on-premise cloud environment. The technology focus includes IaaS, CaaS, PaaS infrastructure (vCloud, vCenter, hypervisor, computing, storage, Network - physical or virtual), remote access solutions, cloud security, and backup solutions. You will also work with the VNF/CNF Onboarding team to automate E2E integrations. Key accountabilities and decision ownership Responsible for the solution design and lifecycle management of designed solutions within Cluster IT, GR, AL Vodafone Markets Coordinating suppliers, engaging with peers and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of functionality and quality in projects Design and deliver NVI on time and on budget according to the project’s timeline Support process development and automation of VNF/CNF delivery Define, address, track, and report on standard and guideline adherence Translate technical requirements into business language Key performance indicators Design and deliver infrastructure within local market timescales Meet or exceed Capex targets Timeliness and quality in the solution design and delivery Core competencies, knowledge and experience Data centre infrastructure, cloud computing, and virtualization architectures (Telco) Customer-oriented and systematic way of working Strong communication and negotiation skills Ability to work across multi-functional and cultural boundaries to deliver results and change Strong individual applied thinking Good analytical and problem-solving skills Must have technical / professional qualifications Degree qualified At least 5 years of professional experience in cloud and virtualization Expert in data centre infrastructure, cloud computing, and virtualization architectures (IT and Telco) design and delivery Solid understanding of virtualization (VMWare/Openshift Cloud Platform) and containerization (Kubernetes) Solid understanding of routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP / ISIS / OSPF) Experience with Kubernetes networking (CNIs, Service Mesh, Network Policies, Ingress/Egress) Experience with Network Load Balancers and Firewalls Experience in designing/implementing IPv6 solutions Scripting expertise is preferred (Power CLI, Powershell, Python, etc.) Location: Italy #J-18808-Ljbffr
