CAE COMPOSITES CRASH SPECIALIST ENGINEER

Italdesign is looking for an accurate, analytical and enthusiastic engineer, who will be employed in the Exteriors Numerical Simulation area, part of the Exteriors Development department of the Italian site of Italdesign. S/He will be responsible to reach the targets of the assigned field of development. Responsibilities Perform virtual CAE analysis to support the understanding of physical phenomena and contribute proactively to the search for technical solutions; Create the virtual model of the project car; Analyze and evaluate the results of the calculations/simulations envisaged by the project and propose technical solutions; Act as center of competence for simulation of composites materials in the department; Creation of the virtual model, including the proper choice of modeling methodology; Outcome management: critical evaluation of the observed phenomenon, verification of the target achievement and communication of the results: Processing: management of the simulation process with the use of dedicated solvers and specific tools; Post-Processing Results Analysis: analysis of simulation results with the use of dedicated post-processors and specific tools. Key requirements At least 10-years experience in CAE Crash simulations; At least 5-years experience in composite/carbon fiber modelling with different FE-solvers: LS-Dyna mandatory, Pamcrash or Radioss recommended; Excellent ability to use software/tools for the construction of finite element models (Ansa mandatory, Hypermesh); Demonstrated experience in Material card characterization (especially in composite materials); Previous experience in the use of computing cluster operating systems for processing activities; Demonstrated customer satisfaction with different OEMs; Knowledge of assembly technologies, materials technologies and Techniques as well as of component production; Knowledge of international regulations, test standards (EuroNCAP, FMVSS, etc.), characteristics of the target/performance; Technical evaluation of different solutions and drafting of technical documentation; Knowledge of legislative/homologation constraints; Knowledge of the MS Office package (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.), CAD viewers; Basic knowledge of computer language for script (Pearl, Python, TCL/TK). Preferential requirements Good analytical skills, accuracy and quality in one’s work; Flexibility and change management; Good spirit of initiative and decision-making ability; Good organization and time management skills; Good ability to work in a team; Customer orientation, collaboration, control and monitoring. Education: Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Materials, Aerospace, Biomedical Engineering or similar; PhD in Engineering with focus on composites materials recommended. Language skills: Fluent knowledge of written and spoken Italian and English (at least C1 Level Mandatory) are required.
