Institute for Renewable Energy Short description of the position.
The Institute for Renewable Energy at Eurac Research seeks 3 highly motivated GIS Experts and researchers to work on Climate Change and Energy Systems topics.
In particular we are looking for 3 dedicated individuals to contribute to research on climate mitigation and adaptation spatial strategies for urban and regional systems.
The successful candidates will play a crucial role in developing and applying innovative approaches to address spatial based challenges posed by climate change in these complex environments.
he position is fully funded within the Framework of the Italian PNRR Project RETURN.
RETURN (multi-Risk sciEnce for resilienT commUnities undeR a changiNg climate) is a 3-year project funded by the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) on the topic of risk.
Tasks.
Conduct spatial based research on climate change impacts, vulnerability assessments, and adaptation planning for urban and regional systems.
Develop and apply GIS modeling tools and methodologies to assess the effectiveness of climate mitigation and adaptation measures.
Contribute to the development of spatial based sustainable urban and regional development strategies, incorporating climate change considerations.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders to identify and implement effective climate solutions.
Participate in knowledge exchange activities, including publishing research papers, presenting at conferences, and engaging with policy communities.
Requirements.
Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field such as environmental science, geography, climate science, or urban planning or equivalent.
Proved experience in GIS, Remote Sensing, Data analytics methods and proficiency in the relevant software tools Strong understanding of climate change science, including impacts, mitigation, and adaptation.
Experience in quantitative research methods, including spatial data analysis and modeling.
Knowledge of urban and regional planning principles and practices.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Italian and/or German, including the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to a diverse audience.
