As you learn more about our company, we think you will agree that there is no better time than now to become a member of the NCLH family!u00a0 POSITION SUMMARY / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS u Responsible to maintain an effective engine room watch and maintenance duties as assigned.
u Maintain an efficient and alert watch in the engine room during assigned periods at sea and in portu00a0 u Call the Chief Engineer whenever in doubt as specified by his/her instructions and the provisions u Carry out maintenance to assigned technical systems as designated by the Staff Chief Engineer and/or Chief Engineer.
u Assist in familiarization with the vessel of lower-ranked engine Officers u Assist Staff Chief Engineer in providing information for assigned areas to the Engine Department Monthly Condition Report u Be fully familiar with the procedures for emergency control of controllable-pitch propellers, where fitted u Carry out systematic checks of oil to sea interfaces u Prepare a handover report prior leaving the vessel u When assigned to do so, represent the Engine Department on the Shipboard Safety Committee u Closely follow Chief Engineerus instructions and procedures when loading or transferring bunkers, MDO, lube oils or oily sludge.
u Comply with applicable laws and regulations regarding refrigerant gasses emissions to the atmosphere u Comply with all laws and regulations regarding bilge water and oily sludge operations aboard Company ships u Comply with all laws and regulations regarding black water and gray water operations aboard Company ships u Responsible for ensuring that Fuel Switchover process is carried EDUCATION u Second Engineer qualifications and licenses in compliance with all International and National conventions and regulations.
u Second Engineer license, endorsed by the Flag State, and all of the certificates as required by the STCW.
00a0u years relevant experience.
u Full knowledge and understanding of the Company SMS.
u Thorough knowledge of the vessel he/she is assigned to.
u Leadership and managerial skills including but not limited to.
Seamanship, Decision Making, Team Building, Coaching and Counseling, Communication, Conflict Resolution, Budgeting, Time Management, Computer Literacy, Customer Service.
QUALIFICATIONS u Excellent administrative skills; u Strong leadership skills and practice uleadership by example;u00a0u Outgoing personality, open minded and flexible; u Ability to work in an international environment; u Ability to perform well under pressure; u Excellent appearance and communication skills; u Well organized; REQUIRED ABILITIES / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS u Excellent communication skills.
